The thing is, looks isn't even something one can control, exactly. One is born looking a certain way. Yet we seem to take such pride in it, and allow our egos to be crushed by someone rejecting us for something out of our control.

She was shallow and unworthy of you. Had she agreed to date you it would have been because of your external appearance and your entire self-esteem would have come to revolve around maintaining it to avoid losing her.
True that. That's why I don't look at a picture of a girl before going out with her - even if it's sent with her resume. It's the only way I can trust that my judgement is logical and not emotional.
Dont take it like that. It probably had nothing to do with your looks. Or she is just shallow and youre better off.
