What is one to do when everyone says that this girl is perfect for him, and he doesn't see it? Often, I find people to are suggesting shidduchim to me don't know me at all. (This one shadchan just asked me for my major and how soon I'd be done, and that's it. Apparently that's all she needed to set me up.) Often those setting me up know my parents and just assume I'm just like them (I'm not), or they knew me once, as a kid, and assume I haven't changed. Perhaps who they're suggesting is perfect for 19 year old FrumGeek, but she isn't for 22 year old FrumGeek. And I can understand their frustration thinking up someone who they know would be perfect for me, only to hear me say "She's not for me." Sometimes I'll agree to go out with the girl anyways. Maybe she's being misrepresented as well. Maybe we are perfect for each other. What do I have to lose?
...Other than hours of my time and money spent, that is. This requires some thinking....

Time IS money...so you are losing it twice over...
ReplyDeleteTrust your gut. If your heart isn't in it, don't go out. But then again, there's the whole "you never know" maxim...Sigh. It's all very confusing. I should know. Anyways, g'luck :)
